MANILA--Twisted Minds Philippines bounced back from a tough defeat to Smart Omega on Friday night with a 2-0 sweep of AP Bren in a crucial MPL Philippines Season 15 encounter on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel Ballroom in Makati.
In its second straight battle that would impact its bid for the last playoff spot, Twisted Minds PH needed to survive two consecutive scares from AP Bren, another team also chasing the postseason ride.
Game 1 saw AP Bren getting an advantage early on, but Twisted Minds PH turned things around after wiping out the entire AP Bren quintet after sacrificing the Lord and completed the comeback as the respawn came a bit too late.
AP Bren tried to bank on it late game brilliance in Game 2, but a sneak push by Michael "MP The King" Endino spoiled the comeback as Twisted Minds PH held on to its early game advantage.
Twisted Minds PH momentarily reclaimed the sixth spot as they moved up to 3-10, but Smart Omega can move back to the said seed if they stun Aurora later Saturday.
The win was also a perfect gift to Salic "Hadjizy" Imam as he celebrated his birthday in action.
AP Bren, on the other hand, fell to 1-10 and is now on a daunting task to pull off a huge upset against defending champion Onic Philippines on Sunday to keep its playoff hopes alive.
