MANDALUYONG--The long wait is over for some players clamoring to make the PBA Greatest Players list.
Nelson Asaytono and Abe King headline the 10 newest members of the league's legends list as announced on Wednesday night during Starting Lineup.
Asaytono, the only player inside the Top 5 in the PBA all-time scoring list who was yet to join the Greatest Players list before Wednesday, was the first to be called during the live broadcast, while King was fifth.
June Mar Fajardo and Scottie Thompson, the only two MVP winners within the past 10 years, were automatically sent to the Greatest Players list due to a longstanding rule that MVPs should make the list, leaving the door open for eight non-MVP legends to make it as well.
The selection committee, led by former PBA commissioner and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas executive director Sonny Barrios, agreed that Asaytono and King should finally go in.
The rest of the PBA Greatest Players list's new members were Jeffrey Cariaso, Bong Hawkins, Danny Seigle, Arnie Tuadles, Manny Victorino, and Yoyoy Villamin.
