MANILA--Magnolia came alive quickly to depose Phoenix, 118-99, in the first non-Mega Manila game of the PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday night at the Vitaliano Agan Coliseum in Zamboanga City.
The Hotshots erupted for 67 points in the first half and never gave the Fuel Masters a chance to fight back en route to the blowout win.
Ian Sangalang led Magnolia, which remained undefeated at 4-0, with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
In his homecoming, Zamboanga City native Mark Barroca added 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, six rebounds, five assists, and one steal.
Zav Lucero and Paul Lee each chipped in 17 markers off the bench with Lucero also grabbing 11 boards.
Kai Ballungay led Phoenix, which fell to 1-3, with 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting, 15 rebounds, one rebound, and one assist.
RR Garcia also had an impressive return to his hometown of sorts with 22 points on 8-for-12 field goals, three rebounds, five assists, and one block.
