MANILA--Robert Bolick denied that he and NLEX coach Jong Uichico are not getting along lately.

The spitfire guard clarified rumors of a rift between him and the multi-titled coach when asked by reporters on Saturday night after their team began its campaign in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

"Kahit sinong coach ko, wala akong [naka-alitan]. OK kami," Bolick said.

Bolick added that he was surprised when an insider report from Spin.PH's Snow Badua surfaced that his working relationship with Uichico has become "uneasy".

"Nagugulat na lang nga ako sa mga lumalabas kasi busy ako sa anak ko eh," Bolick further said, adding that he has to take care of his child so much that he does not have more time checking social media.

"Nagugulat na lang ako sa mga lumalabas, pero hindi totoo yun."

Interestingly enough, Bolick's statement came moments after he was held to 12 points on 2-for-11 field goals in an 89-98 loss to San Miguel.

However, he insisted that the struggles were due to the adjustments to the new system being employed by Uichico.

"May bago kaming sistema ngayon. Medyo nanibago lang kami lahat, pero maganda yung tinatakbo namin. Maganda yung ball movement namin. Ganun talaga first game," said Bolick, who also tallied eight assists out of the Road Warriors' 21 in total.

They fought back from 15 points down to tie the game at 85-all, but the Beermen finished the clash on a 13-4 run to seal the win.

Despite the defeat, Bolick still lauded NLEX's ball movement, which for him now aligns with how modern basketball systems are being employed.

"Maganda yung ikutan namin. Kung swerte lang talaga yun. Syempre San Miguel yun, pero kita mo naman yung ball movement namin. Hindi masyadong nagsti-stick na sa isang kamay. Yun na yung bagong basketball ngayon, so kailangang mag-adjust ka rin. Maganda yung sistema namin. Kailangan lang naming sumunod," he further said.
