BINAN--The PBA dropped a hammer on now Pampanga big man Larry Muyang after he was revealed to have breached his contract with Phoenix.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said on Sunday night that Muyang is indefinitely banned from the league due to his decision to play for the Giant Lanterns even if he still has contract obligations with the Fuel Masters.
Muyang watched Phoenix's game at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila against Meralco, and Marcial got the opportunity to talk to the six-foot-five center regarding his contract situation.
"Humingi siya ng pasensiya. Pero sabi ko kahit ganun, may kontrata siya sa Phoenix so dapat i-honor niya yun," said Marcial.
Muyang's contract with the Fuel Masters runs until May 31, but the Giant Lanterns activated him for their March 28 game against the Pangasinan Heatwaves.
In the next game, though, Muyang exploded for 35 points and 12 rebounds in Pampanga's blowout win against Manila, which apparently drew much attention from Phoenix.
According to Marcial, Muyang can appeal for the lifting of his ban to the PBA board once he finally clears his situation with the Fuel Masters.
