MANILA––Xyrus Torres put on a PBA performance to remember to lead NLEX to its first win in the PBA Philippine Cup at the expense of debuting Rain Or Shine, 109-95, on Saturday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The rookie guard went 11-for-12 from the field, a perfect 6-of-6 on twos and 5-of-6 on threes, for 28 points to lead the way for the Road Warriors, who quickly got back from an early 11-point deficit and raced to a 17-point cushion before settling for the 14-point win against the Elasto Painters.
Robert Bolick added 23 points, seven rebounds, and 12 assists, while fellow former San Beda King Lion Javee Mocon chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one block, and two steals for NLEX, which moved up to 1-1.
Caelan Tiongson led ROS with 24 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
