MANILA--Carl Tamayo’s puzzle for the quest of his first KBL title might be finally solved.

After a stellar outing in Game 2, Tamayo once again provided the all-around boost as he propelled the Changwon LG Sakers to a commanding 3-0 lead over the Seoul SK Knights in the KBL Finals.

Tamayo, who scored 27 big points on Wednesday night, stuffed the stat sheet anew on Friday night, tallying 18 points and 6 rebounds, enough for the Sakers to secure an emphatic 80-63 home win in Game 3 at the Changwon Gymnasium.

Changwon bucked a sluggish start in the first frame but slowly set their shots on cue with their solid ball movement to carry a 47-35 lead going to halftime.

The Knights tried to spark a run in the third, led by Kim Sung-Hyung and their import Jameel Warney, but the Sakers, who got their gears going, were just too much to handle.

Assem Marei also stepped up on the occasion for the Sakers, chipping in 20 points along with 16 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

Changwon now holds a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series and is on the brink of sweeping its way to its first KBL title with Game 4 back at its home floor on Sunday.

Warney put up 18 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, one block, and two steals for the top-seeded Knights, who are now in need of a reverse sweep to steal the league title away from the Sakers, something that has never happened at all in the KBL.
