MANILA--The Changwon LG Sakers survived the Seoul SK Knights' surprise package to take a 76-71 win in Game 2 of the KBL Finals on Wednesday night at the Jamsil Students' Gymnasium in Seoul.
Seoul SK decided to give Juan Gomez De Liano extended minutes, and the combo guard repaid his team's trust by putting on an explosion in hopes of tying the best-of-seven series up.
However, Yu Ki-Sang saved the day for Changwon as he hit a crucial three with 28 seconds left and two free throws 11 seconds later to douse cold water on Seoul SK's chances.
Carl Tamayo continued his masterful KBL Finals performance by leading the Sakers with 27 points on 10-of-20 field goals, seven rebounds, and one steal.
Yu added 14 points on 4-for-9 shooting from deep, five rebounds, and one assist, while Heo Il-Young and Assem Marei each chipped in 12 markers with the latter also grabbing 14 boards.
Gomez De Liano, who shone brightly for the Knights' developmental team but was playing sparingly in the main squad prior to Game 2, led the home team with 19 points on 8-of-16 field goals, four rebounds, and two assists off the bench.
Jameel Warney added 17 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, one block, and two steals.
Now 2-0 up in the championship series, Changwon gets an outright chance to sweep the series at home as Games 3 and 4 will be played at the Changwon Gymnasium this weekend.
