MAKATI--Team Liquid Philippines claimed the top seed in the MPL Philippines Season 15 playoffs after downing Aurora, 2-0, in its last regular season meeting on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel Ballroom.
Needing the win so that it would need to be in a waiting game for its Top 2 bid, Liquid PH survived two endable moments from Aurora and clawed its way back to the game to steal Game 1.
Then, in a lighthearted moment to celebrate Mobile Legends Bang Bang's collaboration with popular manga and anime series Naruto, Naruto prevailed over Sasuke as Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno's Lukas, using a Naruto skin, outplayed Jonard "Demonkite" Caranto's Suyou, with a Sasuke skin, in Game 2 to lead Liquid PH's jugular.
Liquid PH finished the regular season with a 12-2 record, as it has the tiebreaker over Aurora, which fell to 11-2 but could also finish 12-2, due to a better game win difference.
Aurora can still clinch the second seed if it beats Team Falcons in the last regular season match on Sunday night or if Onic Philippines loses one of its next two matches.
Onic PH will play also-ran Smart Omega later Saturday.
