MANILA--Team Liquid Philippines booked the last seat in the MPL Philippines grand finals after taking down Team Falcons Philippines, 4-2, in the lower bracket finals on Saturday night at the Green Sun Hotel Ballroom in Makati.
Liquid PH started the series strong, racing to a 20-5 lead in kills just 12 minutes into Game 1, including a wipeout during the second Lord fight.
Falcons PH had a chance to turn things around after Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson scored a double kill and "Super Marco" Requitiano took down one as well during Liquid PH's Lord push.
However, Alston "Sanji" Pabico, as Luo Yi, diverted himself into the already barren Falcons PH base to initiate the game-ending push for Liquid PH.
Falcons PH then had a strong start of its own in Game 2 after going 6-1 in kills at the time of the team fight for the first Turtle, but just when the Green Birds thought the Turtle is all theirs, Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno successfully stole the Turtle from them, and Liquid PH gained momentum from thereon.
Falcons PH had a golden opportunity to turn the tide after Rowgien "Owgwen" Unigo stole the fourth Lord from Liquid PH, and his teammates eventually cleared out the side lanes.
However, another moment of brilliance from Pabico, wherein he killed a hiding Requitiano with his Feathered Air Strike as Pharsa, cleared the way for Liquid PH to finish Game 2 off after a 28-and-a-half-minute marathon.
Falcons PH finally got on the scoreboard with a dominating Game 3 performance, but Liquid PH responded with a brilliant macro gaming that saw them leading by more than 11,500 golds in just 12 minutes en route to the 3-1 lead.
Falcons PH got a ray of hope after another aggressive showing handed them Game 5, but in Game 6, Liquid PH, with a tanky roster of Nepomuceno's Fredrinn, Sanford Vinuya's Gloo, and Jaypee Dela Cruz's Mathilda, bought enough time after securing the second Lord to let their minions gradually seal the deal as Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel came a bit too late in defending his base even as Nepomuceno kept Requitiano from going back to the Falcons PH base as well.
Liquid PH, the top seed after the regular season, set an upper bracket finals rematch against Onic Philippines, this time for the MPL Philippines Immortal Cup on Sunday night.
Liquid PH will also join Onic PH in the MLBB Midseason Cup during the Esports World Cup in Riyadh.
