Onic PH is back in the MPL Philippines Finals. MPL Philippines |
MANILA—ONIC Philippines booked back-to-back MPL Philippines grand finals tickets after sweeping Team Liquid Philippines, 3-0, in the upper bracket finals on Friday at the Green Sun Hotel Ballroom in Makati.
The win also secured ONIC PH the first MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) 2025 slot for the Philippines in the upcoming Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this July.
Meanwhile, Team Liquid Philippines will drop to the lower bracket, awaiting the winner between Aurora Gaming and Team Falcons Philippines in the LB finals on Saturday.
ONIC PH delivers bloodbath in Game 1
ONIC gained full control early on, with Kirk Gutierrez’s Gloo spearheading the charge and finishing with an impressive 4/0/9 KDA.
They maximized their macro advantage by taking down eight turrets while limiting TLPH to just three.
Although TLPH managed to hold off ONIC and narrow the gold gap late in the game, it wasn’t enough to stop ONIC’s momentum.
ONIC eventually closed out the match at the 15:35 mark with a dominant 22-7 finish.
Brusko's kick is all it takes in Game 2
The second game started evenly, with both teams trading blows until ONIC claimed a three-for-none exchange around the seventh minute, trading it for a second-tier bottom turret.
As the gold gap widened to around 1,500, TLPH managed to score crucial pickoffs to regain some control.
ONIC regained momentum with another clean three-for-none exchange that also brought down TLPH’s mid inhibitor turret.
When ONIC attempted to force the finish, "Super" Frince Ramirez’s Luo Yi was taken down, giving TLPH a chance to recover map control.
Near the 15-minute mark, Borris "Brusko" Parro's Chou executed another brilliant Jeet Kun Do that knocked up three TLPH players, leading to a full wipeout and a 2-0 series lead for ONIC.
Unorthodox finish for ONIC PH in Game 3
ONIC adopted an aggressive strategy inspired by Bigetron Alpha picking up Baxia, Angela, and Irithel, dominating objectives and team fights.
They secured six turrets and two turtles before the 12-minute mark, denying TLPH any turret and limiting them to a single turtle.
Duane "Kelra" Pillas’ Irithel played a key role in melting both TLPH’s defenses and their heroes, slowly taking control of the map.
ONIC wrapped up the third and final game in 16 minutes and 11 seconds to complete the sweep.
With the series win, ONIC advances to the Grand Finals and officially becomes the first Filipino team to qualify for MSC 2025.
TLPH, meanwhile, will now regroup in the lower bracket for a second chance at reaching the Grand Finals.
