MANILA--Onic Philippines prevailed in its second straight best-of-five MPL Philippines playoff series that lasted the full length, this time beating Aurora in the upper bracket semifinals on Thursday night at the Green Sun Hotel Ballroom in Makati.

Onic PH once again showed its championship pedigree in the deciding game, racing to a 17-5 lead in kills following a brilliant mid-game display highlighted by Borris "Brusko" Parro connecting on a Way of the Dragon to set up the kill for Jonard "Demonkite" Caranto's Hayabusa during the first Lord fight.

Aurora appeared to have a shot at a comeback after Caranto and Edward Dapadap successfully prevented Onic PH's plans on finishing the game quickly, leading to a wipeout and getting the first two turrets at the middle lane.

However, in the final Lord fight, Onic PH got the wipeout back and finally finished Game 5 in barely over 19 minutes.

Onic PH will face the winner of the Team Liquid Philippines-Team Falcons Philippines match in the upper bracket finals on Friday night, with one grand finals spot and a place in the MLBB Midseason Cup on the line.

On the other hand, Aurora, which entered the playoffs as the second seed, was sent to the lower bracket, now needing to win every single series to stay alive.
