MAKATI--Onic Philippines completed its part in trying to steal the second seed in the MPL Philippines playoffs from Aurora after tripping Twisted Minds Philippines, 2-0, on Sunday night at the Green Sun Hotel Ballroom.

In what could also be a preview of their first-round meeting, Onic PH survived the return of Stephen "Sensui" Castillo as they finished their regular season campaign with 10 straight wins after a 1-3 start.

A tight Game 1 that saw Castillo returning to his role as jungler with Fredrinn turned to Onic PH's favor in the end as the team, led by the anime character combo of Duane "Kelra" Pillas' Harith with a Killua skin, Kirk Gutierrez's Lukas with a Naruto skin, King "Kingkong" Perez's Suyou with a Sasuke skin, and Borris "Brusko" Parro's Kalea with a Sakura skin, took advantage of James "Jeymz" Gloria's Lapu-Lapu being far from the Lord area and surprised Twisted Minds PH with a quick attack to win the clash and deliver the endgame strike.

Gloria had a chance to spark a game-changing moment in Game 2 as the EXP laner, now playing Masha, sacrificed himself to Onic PH's gank so that Castillo, now playing Akai, and Jhonville "Outplayed" Villar, with a Claude, could have a free lane to kill the second Lord.

However, Perez was able to steal the Lord despite needing to walk back from a distance, and Onic PH took down Twisted Minds PH in the last clash of Game 2 to complete the sweep.

Onic PH finished the regular season with 10 straight wins to move up to 11-3 with 14 net game wins, but they must still hope that Aurora, currently in second at 11-2 but with 13 net game wins, loses to Team Falcons Philippines in the final regular season match of the season to steal the second seed.

On the other hand, Twisted Minds PH dropped to 3-11, tying AP Bren for sixth place, although Twisted Minds PH holds the tiebreaker due to better net game wins.

Twisted Minds PH clinched the last playoff berth on Friday night after AP Bren's come-from-behind win against Smart Omega.
