PBA: Meralco snaps skid with rout vs Blackwater

MANILA--Meralco began its last dash to a possible place in the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals after drubbing Blackwater, 103-85, on Wednesday night at the Ynares Center 1 in Antipolo.

In a clash between reeling teams, the Bolts snapped their string of back-to-back defeats by slowly but surely suck the fight out of the Bossing, opening a double-digit lead by halftime that Meralco sustained until the end.

Chris Newsome led five Bolts in double figures with 19 points alongside seven rebounds, one assist, and three steals.

CJ Cansino added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block as Meralco climbed to 4-5 in the standings, one game ahead of Phoenix for eighth place.

Christian David put up 24 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, and three steals, while Sedrick Barefield added 23 points, three rebounds, and one assist for the Bossing, who dropped their third straight game and fell to 1-5.
