PBA: RJ Abarrientos lights it up from deep as Ginebra trounces Phoenix for back-to-back wins

MANILA--Behind another solid game from long range by RJ Abarrientos, Ginebra finally got itself a winning streak going in the PBA Philippine Cup by ripping Phoenix, 119-112, on Friday night at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The rookie point guard went 6-for-9 in total from at least 22 feet out to lead the Gin Kings' fluid game from the outside as they erupted for 68 combined points in the second and third quarters to seize control of the match.

Abarrientos finished with 25 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one block off the bench to lead Ginebra, which after going up and down in its first four games now has back-to-back wins to tie San Miguel for third place at 4-2.

Japeth Aguilar continued his vintage display by adding 24 points on 9-for-12 shooting, seven rebounds, four assists, and one block.

Scottie Thompson chipped in 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, two rebounds, and 13 assists.

Overall, Ginebra shot 17-of-30 from either the three or four-point land.

Jason Perkins led Phoenix, which dropped to 2-5, with 28 points on 11-for-16 field goals including 5-of-8 from deep, five rebounds, and five assists.
