MANILA--Scottie Thompson would be involved in two deliveries on Friday night, one he gave out and another that he would watch.

Right after delivering the assist for Japeth Aguilar's game winner against Blackwater, the Ginebra superstar guard quickly rushed out of the PhilSports Arena in Pasig to visit his wife Jinky, who as of posting is about to deliver her third child at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa.

With the distance between the Ortigas and Alabang business districts being far from each other, the mad rush to AHMC from the PhilSports Arena was necessary.

"He just told me his wife is delivering as we speak. They didn't tell him during the game. They waited till the game is over, and they told him immediately after the game that his wife is in the hospital delivering," Gin Kings head coach Tim Cone said after their tight win against the Bossing.

He added that Thompson went straight to his car with his jersey still on just as the final buzzer sounded considering the rush.

Cone also admitted that Jinky Thompson kept the situation mum to his coaching staff as well.

"We didn't know until the end of the game. It was nice of his wife not to insist on telling him to come right away. She told him right after the game was over, and that's where he found out," Cone further said.

Scottie Thompson's arrival at AHMC might have been delayed by a few minutes if Blackwater and Ginebra played overtime following Troy Mallillin's game-tying three with 19.6 seconds left in regulation.

However, Thompson found Aguilar open from the baseline to set up the dagger.

"It was a great pass by Scottie to make it happen," Cone further said.
