MANILA—After wrapping up their Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers campaign, the Philippine Women’s National Football Team is set for another tough challenge — this time as defending champions — in the upcoming 2025 ASEAN MSIG Serenity Cup following the official group draw on Monday morning.
The Filipinas have been placed in Group B, where they will face regional rivals Timor-Leste, Australia, and tournament powerhouse Myanmar as they aim to defend their title and secure a second consecutive championship.
Meanwhile, host nation Vietnam leads Group A, grouped with Cambodia, Indonesia, and Thailand, as they look to capture their fourth tournament title.
The Filipinas, formerly known as the Malditas, had an impressive run in the 2022 AFF Women’s Championship, which the Philippines hosted. They finished second in Group A with four wins and one loss.
In the semifinals, the team stunned then-defending champions Vietnam with a resounding 4–0 victory, and went on to defeat Thailand in the final with a dominant 3–0 scoreline to capture their historic maiden title.
The 2025 ASEAN MSIG Serenity Cup will take place from Aug. 6-19.
