Sibol's MLBB teams join a stacked bunch of new ambassadors for Jollibee. Ivan Saldajeno |
MAKATI—Jollibee, arguably the number one restaurant chain in the Philippines right now, launched its "Bida Best, Bida Pinoy" campaign on Thursday night just in time for Independence Month.
Various personalities from the entertainment, education, and sports industries were tapped by Jollibee to be its ambassadors for the campaign, which showcases the Filipinos' success everywhere.
The two Filipino Olympic gold medalists, Hidilyn Diaz and Carlos Yulo, headline the cast of athletes who were named Jollibee's Bida Best ambassadors.
Also joining the group are Asia's pole vault king EJ Obiena and the Sibol Mobile Legends Bang Bang teams.
Interestingly enough, though, while NaVi Philippines was there in full force to represent Sibol's women's team, it was RRQ Kaito—not Team Falcons Philippines—that made up the men's team when the commercial for the Jollibee Bida Best campaign was unveiled.
Moreover, during the campaign launch at Whitespace Manila here, not even a single Falcons PH member, especially Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson, RRQ Kaito's "import" for last year's IESF World Championships, was in attendance.
Three RRQ Kaito members, Denniel "XNova" Gomez, Gabriel "Denjiro" Guinto, and Carl "Minguin" Gallantes, represented Sibol in the event along with the entire NaVi PH roster.
Why was that so?
One person privy to the situation explained to Dugout Philippines that Sibol was tapped for the campaign before the qualifiers for this year's IESF worlds took place.
The source added that filming for the commercial also took place before the qualifying phase, and it can be understood that the ad was in its post-production phase when Falcons PH, along with Sanford Vinuya and Duane "Kelra" Pillas, became the new Sibol men's squad.
In an interview with volleyball pro turned newscaster Gretchen Ho during the Jollibee Bida Best launch, Sibol general manager Jab Escutin took pride in saying how the Philippines has become a powerhouse in the MLBB scene throughout the years.
"We're very lucky that in the Philippines, we are very talented in esports and that our great Filipino athletes have continually shown the world that when it comes to esports, you always remember the Philippines first," Escutin said.
