Duane "Kelra" Pillas believes the other countries are already scared at Onic PH and Liquid PH for the MSC. MPL Philippines (file photo) |
MANILA--Duane "Kelra" Pillas is extremely confident that either Onic Philippines or Team Liquid Philippines will reign supreme in the MLBB Midseason Cup.
Although he did not give a specific percentage of confidence like what Liquid PH did after the MPL Philippines Finals on June 1, the Onic PH gold laner hinted at a stern warning to the other clubs who have either qualified or are still in the hunt for MSC qualification.
"Feeling ko, yung ibang bansa, kinakabahan na sa Pilipinas ngayon (I feel like the other countries are getting nervous about the Philippines now)," Pillas said during the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum on Tuesday at the PSC Conference Room at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
Pillas has every reason to be confident.
Firstly, Onic Philippines is the reigning M-Series World Champion and is expected to be among the favorites to rule MSC.
Secondly, Liquid PH, the newly crowned MPL Philippines champ, has been in MSC for three straight years and, especially since signing Kiel "Oheb" Soriano as its new main gunner, could also be an expected title contender.
Lastly, according to Pillas, the intensity of the recent MPL Philippines Finals, which rocked the sold-out Green Sun Ballroom in Makati and drew over 1.8 million viewers worldwide on all streaming platforms, also gives both teams an advantage.
"Para sa akin, sobrang confident talaga ako na isa sa amin ang mananalo kasi tignan mo sa result ng grand finals namin noong MPL. Dikit talaga yung laban namin (For me, I'm really confident that one of us will win because look at the result of our grand finals in the MPL. Our match was really close)," Pillas further said.
Onic PH and Liquid PH are two of the Filipino esports clubs that have already qualified for the entire Esports World Cup.
Liquid PH's women's team and NaVi Philippines will represent the Three Stars and a Sun in the MLBB Women's Invitational.
Talon Philippines has already secured its place for DOTA 2 due to world rankings, with a possibility of another Filipino team coming in through the Southeast Asian Qualifiers.
Finally, newly-crowned Philippine King League champion Boom Esports, Blacklist International, and ACT Esports Club will be the Philippine EWC teams for Honor of Kings.
