MANILA—Zamboanga del Sur pride Weljon "Triggerman" Mindoro extended his perfect professional record with a thunderous first-round knockout of Mexican opponent Omar Munguia on Sunday (Philippine time) at the Boeing Center, Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas.

Donning the Philippine colors of red and blue, the 25-year-old Mindoro set up a brutal combination at the 1:48 mark, an overhand left that rocked and trapped Mungia against the corner.

Seconds later, Mindoro delivered a punishing body shot followed by a sharp right uppercut that sent the Mexican to the canvas with 1:40 remaining in the opening round.

Munguia, clad in black and teal trunks, tried to rise but was clearly in no condition to continue.

Referee Angel Mendez waived off the count, handing Mindoro yet another statement win.

Now training out of Bacoor City, Mindoro improves to 14-0-1, all 14 victories coming by way of knockout, while Munguia, previously undefeated, falls to 8-1-1 (6 KOs).

This latest demolition follows Mindoro's fourth-round TKO win over Australian veteran Joel Camilleri last Dec. 6 in the UAE, where he captured the IBA Asian super middleweight title.
