MANILA--Although typhoon "Crising" is already far away from the Philippines, it still intensifies the southwest monsoon, leading to stormy weather on Monday in Mega Manila.
With the bad weather still expected through the night, the MPBL decided to call off its scheduled tripleheader at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum.
Imus was scheduled to take on Pangasinan in the first game, Davao Occidental was supposed to battle Abra in the second game, and Batangas City was supposed to host Mindoro in the main game.
In a statement, the MPBL reiterated the "utmost importance" of keeping everyone in the regional league safe amid the heavy rains.
The MPBL is expected to reschedule the games sometime before the end of the regular season.
With the six teams involved in the thick of the playoff race, the tripleheader would become more crucial than ever.
This also means CJ Lane, the Rum Masters' new signing, will be able to play against the Tamaraws if he gets activated for the said game.
Although Batangas City already announced its acquisition of Lane, the 6-foot-10 center would not immediately join the team to attend to more personal matters.
A person privy to the situation told Dugout Philippines that he will only arrive by Aug. 10 at the soonest.
