QUEZON CITY--This time, San Miguel put the result beyond doubt.
The Beermen made sure they would win Game 2 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals without any controversy surrounding a clutch shot by nipping the TNT Tropang 5G, 98-92, on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
In a game where June Mar Fajardo and CJ Perez slowed down a bit, Don Trollano stepped up, scoring 12 of his 22 points in the pivotal fourth quarter to help SMB, which blew a 13-point first-half lead, close out TNT.
Trollano went 10-of-16 from the field even as he also grabbed six rebounds and dished out one assist for the Beermen, who forced a 1-1 deadlock in the best-of-seven series.
Fajardo added 17 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and one steal as he bucked early foul trouble.
Calvin Oftana, who spearheaded the Tropang 5G's comeback bid in the third quarter, fired 23 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal, but he was held scoreless in the fourth.
