QUEZON CITY--Australia took advantage of a bad outing by Jack Animam to whip Gilas Pilipinas, 115-39, at the start of their FIBA Women's Asia Cup campaign on Sunday night at the Shenzhen Sports Center.

The Aussie ballers held Animam scoreless for the first three quarters before she finally scored in the fourth, all when the outcome was already settled.

Miela Goodchild led Australia with 17 points on 7-of-10 field goals, including a perfect 4-for-4 shooting inside the arc, one rebound, one assist, one steal, and one block off the bench.

Sara Bilcavs added 17 points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal, while Chloe Bibby contributed 16 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists.

In a game where no Filipina scored in double figures, Vanessa De Jesus led Gilas with nine points, three rebounds, and one assist.

Animam, the longtime anchor of the Philippine team, only went 1-for-11 from the field for two points as she also struggled in the rebounding department with five boards alongside two steals.
