PASAY--Jericho Cruz waxed hot at the opportune time as San Miguel moved to within one win from denying TNT a PBA Season 49 grand slam with a 105-91 win in Game 4 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals on Sunday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Cruz sizzled in the fourth quarter, scoring 15 of his 23 points as the Beermen countered a 15-2 Tropang 5g run to end the third with a dominating final frame to pull away for good.
The Guam international finished with a solid 6-of-10 shooting including 5-of-7 from three-point range while also tallying three rebounds, one assist, and one steal as SMB can close out the series as early as Game 5 on Wednesday night back at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
CJ Perez added 16 points, three rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block, while June Mar Fajardo, fresh from winning the Best Player of the Conference award earlier in the night, chipped in 15 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, two blocks, and three steals.
Jordan Heading also had 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting including 4-of-6 on threes, one rebound, five assists, and one steal for TNT, which now needs to win three straight games to finish the treble job.
Poy Erram made a surprise return from his right ankle injury and finished with six points, four rebounds, and one block.
