MANILA--Dynamic Herb Cebu clinched a spot in the Shopee Cup after drubbing Kasuka, 3-0, in their qualifying phase rematch on Friday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The second leg win sealed a 4-2 aggregate outcome favoring the PFL side following a 2-1 Kasuka win in their first meeting.
Esrom Paulos opened the floodgates for Cebu by converting on a 21st-minute goal that was first needed to undergo a confirmation from the virtual assistant referee before the referee counted the shot.
Rico Andes then made it 2-0 with a 27th minute goal that was converted off a miscommunication error among Kasuka teammates.
After two badly missed shots that could have blown the match wide open, Andes virtually sealed the outcome after turning a corner kick into a header goal in the 78th minute.
Cebu will complete Group A, which also composes of Buriram, BG Pathum, Selangor, Cong An Ha Noi, and Tampines.
Cebu, though, will have less than one week to shift its attention to the group stages as its showdown against Tampines will be on Wednesday, although it will still be at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
