MAKATI--Towering Abra center Geo Chiu made it in time as the deadline for application for the upcoming PBA Draft elapsed on Friday night.

Although agreeing on terms of a two-year deal, the Weavers management gave the 6-foot-10 big man permission to join the Sept. 7 event, paving the way for the former Ateneo star to sign up at the 11th hour.

Among those who also threw their names into the draft on Friday were Macau Black Bears star Cole Micek, high-flying Quezon Husker Ximone Sandagon, and burly College of St. Benilde star Shawn Umali.

Bull-strong Batangas City big CJ Lane, another 6-foot-10 prospect, and high-flying second-generation star Kobe Paras decided not to declare for the draft.

Despite the UAAP deferring its final say on a proposal from the PBA to allow their graduating stars to join the draft even if their season is ongoing or about to start to next year, the application for this year's draft was well received with 128 signing up at the end of the application period.

The draft applicants must undergo a combine on Sept. 4-5 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, and the final list of those eligible for the Sept. 7 draft proper at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay will be revealed after the combine.
