MANILA--AP Bren showed how improved it has become roster-wise by edging Smart Omega, 2-1, in its MPL Philippines Season 16 debut on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel Ballroom in Makati.
"Lord" JM Sebastian, Arvie "Aqua" Antonio, and Denniel "XNova" Gomez, at least for the day, proved to be indeed the much-needed help for holdovers James "Jamespangkz" Mendoza and JC "Shizou" Valdez as they quickly sent Smart Omega back to earth after a solid season debut on Friday night against TNC.
Gomez and Sebastian's presence was especially felt in Game 3 when Gomez, playing Khufra, connected on a Tyrant's Revenge to James "Jeymz" Gloria, leading to a gank that gave AP Bren the free Lord.
From there, Sebastian, playing Esmeralda, delivered constant pressure on Smart Omega, leading to the complete push at the top lane to take the series win.
AP Bren momentarily jumped to second place just behind Team Falcons Philippines, which will play Twisted Minds Philippines later Saturday, on game wins.
Smart Omega, on the other hand, dropped to 1-1.
