MANILA -- The title defense of the Filipinas Women's National Football Team started with their huge 7-0 win against Timor Leste in their opening action of the 2025 ASEAN Women's MSIG Serenity Cup, Thursday night at Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho, Vietnam.

As their eyes are set on defending their throne as Queens of Southeast Asia Women's Football, the Filipinas Women's National Football Team found its relevance being ranked 39th in the now-released FIFA Women's Rankings earlier today.

In the first 10 minutes of the game, the Filipinas already produced three goals against Timor Leste.

The goals came from debutant Aaliyah Schiniman in the second minute, Quinley Quezada in the seventh minute, and two minutes later, Team Captain Hali Long through her header from the corner kick.

Quezada produced her second goal of the tournament in the 34th minute, 4-0 until the first half ended.

Dionesa Tolentin marked a milestone in her football career after she joined the Filipinas' scoring party as she scored two goals — in the 57th and 64th minutes, respectively.

Those two goals were her first two international goals, aside from her two international goals in her futsal appearance.

Then, another debutant, Adelaide Wyrzynski, empowered the Filipinas after she contributed the national team’s seventh goal and her first international goal in her Filipinas career.

Earlier, groupmates Myanmar clinched their first three points after beating Australia U23 with a 2-1 full-time score.

The Philippines are leading Group B, although they have identical three points with Myanmar, due to goal difference.

The Filipinas will meet Australia U23 on Sunday.
