MANILA--The remaining members of the team formerly known as Onic Nine Lives have found a new home in Twisted Minds Philippines.
Lance "Lansu" Misa, Mico "Nosia" Guevarra, Miguel "Sionnn" Alcantara, and Carlo "Caloy" Roma are joining forces with holdovers Michael "MP The King" Endino and Stephen "Sensui" Castillo at Twisted Minds for its sophomore campaign in MPL Philippines, as announced on Saturday night.
In effect, this also quashed rumors that Alcantara and Roma would be joining their former coach, JP "Right" Lugtu, at Dewa United for MPL Indonesia Season 16.
Lugtu's hiring was announced on Thursday, but only Haikal "Markk" Balad was also announced as Dewa's new player, fueling speculations that the rest of the ONL boys will more likely stay put in the Philippines following AJ "Kayn" Sombilon's departure to See You Soon.
Entering the Philippine MLBB scene during MPL Philippines Season 15 earlier this year, Twisted Minds PH, despite absorbing the core of Blacklist International following its dissolution, barely made the playoffs, finishing sixth place with a dismal 3-11 record.
Twisted Minds PH hinted at a major rebuild after letting go of Joemarie "Escalera" Delos Santos, Jamal "Lamaj" Dimati, Salic "Hadjizy" Imam, and James "Jeymz" Gloria earlier this week.
Imam and Gloria eventually joined Smart Omega, another club that overhauled its roster.
Now joining the fray for Twisted Minds PH are Misa, Guevarra, Alcantara, and Roma, four-fifths of the Onic Nine Lives squad that ruled MDL Philippines Season 5 and made a surprise finals appearance in the Sibol SEA Games qualifiers.
Following Onic Nine Lives' surprise run, Team Liquid Philippines head coach Rodel "Arsy" Cruz tapped Roma to join them at Sibol for the SEA Games this December.
