MANILA--Smart Omega got back at Twisted Minds Philippines in style, that is, a 2-0 sweep, in their MPL Philippines Season 16 second round affair on Saturday night at the Green Sun Hotel Ballroom in Makati.
Although the team got an encouraging sign as Miguel "Sionnn" Alcantara was still cleared to play after after getting involved in a motorcycle accident earlier this week, Twisted Minds PH could not find its rhythm as they failed to rebuild a winning streak against the last team they beat as part of their shock 3-0 season start.
James "Jeymz" Gloria delivered a masterclass as Esmeralda in Game 1, going 11-1-5 in KDA to not just frustrate fellow EXP laner Lance "Lansu" Misa but the entire Twisted Minds PH quintet too.
Misa tried to show he can be brilliant with Esmeralda too in Game 2 by stealing the hero in the draft, but Gloria, how using Arlott, was still just too much, going 3-0-3 before sacrificing his life to complete the endgame push for Smart Omega.
Smart Omega tied TNC at 4-6, but the former reclaimed fifth place on a better game-win difference, while Twisted Minds, since the 3-0 start, fell to its fifth loss in the last seven matches go even at 5-5.
