PASAY—As a birthday tribute to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and a gesture of gratitude to Filipino volleyball fans, the local organizing committee (LOC) of the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship announced reduced ticket prices for the world-class tournament currently being held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena and Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“It’s only fitting that on the president’s 68th birthday, we extend this gift both to him and to the most important stakeholders of the sport—the fans,” said Philippine National Volleyball Federation president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
President Marcos made his presence felt during the opening ceremony at the MOA Arena, where he performed the ceremonial serve and cheered for Alas Pilipinas in its Pool A clash against Tunisia.
The First Family also showed full support, donning Alas Pilipinas colors courtside.
Filipino fans have packed the stands in both arenas amid the initial ticket prices, which were deemed too costly, showing once again their unwavering passion for volleyball
Their cheers have not only lifted Alas Pilipinas but have also been warmly received by visiting foreign teams, who expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic and welcoming support from the local crowd.
The LOC will announce the adjusted ticket prices ahead of Sunday’s pool matches at both MOA Arena and Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship runs until Sept. 28, giving fans more opportunities to witness world-class volleyball action on Philippine soil. The world is watching—and once again, the Philippines is proving it is truly the home of volleyball fans.
