PASAY--NorthPort and Terrafirma, which have been having an interesting offseason, could be in for some tweaks to their lineups as they were two of the three teams with the most selections at the conclusion of the PBA Draft on Sunday night at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
Both the Batang Pier and the Dyip, which have been at the center of franchise transfer talks, loaded up their roster pools by drafting 11 and 10 players, respectively.
Terrafirma, which eventually remained in the PBA after talks with Basilan Starhorse and Zamboanga Valientes to purchase its franchise fell through, drafted Royce Alforque, JM Bravo, Ira Bataller, Claude Camit, Tristan Medina, and Franz Diaz later in the draft.
NorthPort, currently in the waiting game after an agreement with Pureblends to buy its franchise, picked JJ Gesalem, Jonas Tibayan, Kobe Pableo, Kenny Rocacurva, Kint Ariar, Robi Nayve, and Ricky Peromingan at the late stages of the draft proceedings.
Converge also ended up with 10 draft picks, taking JP Cauilan, Danielle Mallari, Jordan Sta. Ana, Geremy Robinson, Patrick Ramos, and Neil Tolentino from Rounds 5-10.
Other notable players picked in the fifth round were King Gurtiza (Phoenix), Jeff Comia (Meralco), Axel Inigo (San Miguel), and MJ Dela Virgen (Rain or Shine).
Jacey Cruz, the youngest player who declared for this year's PBA Draft at age 21, ended up as the Beermen's sixth-round pick.
Manu Codinera, the son of PBA legend Jerry, landed in the seventh round with Blackwater taking him in.
After 11 rounds of selecting, 77 players out of 122 applicants were drafted to the PBA.
Some players who missed out on being selected were newly crowned NBL MVP LJ Mayo, NCAA Mythical Five member Ato Barba, and high-flying Ashon Andrews.
