MANILA--John Riel Casimero played probably one of his worst performances in recent times as he bowed down to Kyonosuke Kameda on Saturday at the Bishkek Arena.
Checking out how he could fare against a Japanese opponent, Casimero tried to turn the match in his favor quickly, delivering early power shots to dictate the tempo in the first few rounds.
However, Kameda's slow approach bore fruit come the latter rounds as he staggered Casimero with crucial haymakers that eventually opened a cut in his right eye area by Round 9.
Although Casimero had some bright moments in Round 10 in hopes of stealing the win, they were not enough to convince the judges to overturn the result.
One judge had it 97-93, while the other two both had it 98-94 in favor of Kameda, which moved up to 16-5-2.
Casimero, the former three-division world champ, dropped to 34-5-1.
