PASAY--Team Liquid Philippines put a stop to what had been a memorable late run by Team Falcons Philippines with a 3-1 win at the start of the MPL Philippines Playoffs on Wednesday night at the Cuneta Astrodome.
In effect, Liquid PH, seeded third in the playoffs, kept its bid of completing the Golden Road alive.
Liquid PH quickly imposed its championship caliber in Game 1, quickly bouncing back from Rowgien "Owgwen" Unigo's First Blood to go 16-0 the rest of the way in kills.
Liquid PH continued its dominance in Game 2 with solid macro gaming wherein the team eventually led by more than 13,000 golds before securing the 2-0 lead.
Falcons PH struck back in Game 3 and tried to keep things close in Game 4, but Liquid PH, already up big in Game 4, sealed a solid endgame clash win that eventually iced the match.
Liquid PH will now take on Onic Philippines in the upper bracket semifinals on Thursday night.
On the other hand, despite falling short, Falcons PH's late rise from last place to the last playoff spot remains one of the most remarkable clutch runs in league history.
