PASAY--Team Liquid Philippines set MPL Philippines history by snapping Aurora Philippines' historic winning streak right at the grand finals on Sunday night at the sold-out Cuneta Astrodome.
Liquid PH snapped Aurora PH's dominating run at 15 matches, doing so in style by sweeping the best-of-seven championship series.
Liquid PH dominated Aurora PH in the first two games, going 21-6 in kills in Game 1 and 20-8 in Game 2.
Liquid PH then let its macro gaming do the talking in Game 3 as it built a 10,600-gold lead to move closer to the sweep.
Aurora PH had a chance to steal Game 4 after successfully defending the first Lord push by Liquid PH and getting the next two Lords.
However, Alston "Sanji" Pabico shocked Aurora PH by pulling off a successful Diversion right at the team's base as Liquid PH completed the backdoor push to steal the game.
Series-wise, though, it was Jaypee Dela Cruz who was stellar, and he was rewarded with Finals MVP honors.
Liquid PH is now the most successful franchise in MPL PH history after winning its fourth title, doing so in the past three years.
On the other hand, Aurora PH was denied a title again in its second finals appearance within three seasons as its historic streak started and curiously ended at the hands of Liquid PH.
