MANILA––Blackwater showed that defense does more tricks in basketball as it walloped Terrafirma, 107-87, to open its PBA Philippine Cup campaign on Friday night at the Ynares Center 2 in Rodriguez, Rizal.
While they struggled offensively, only shooting 39.3 percent from the field, the Bossing played more tremendous defense against the Dyip, especially inside the shaded lane, outrebounding them, 61-44, while going on a block party with six in total.
Christian David led Blackwater with 24 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and two steals, while RK Ilagan added 22 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
Dalph Panopio had a solid PBA debut with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.
Jerrick Ahanmisi fired 25 points, 18 in the first half, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals for Terrafirma.
