MAKATI—The Delta Pineda head coaching era for Converge was off to a stellar start on Saturday night after ripping Titan Ultra, 129-92, in their PBA Philippine Cup battle at the Ynares Center 2 in Rodriguez, Rizal.
Justin Arana was dominant as always as he led the FiberXers' blowout win with 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting, 22 rebounds, three assists, and one block.
Schonny Winston added 16 points on 5-of-10 field goals, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Juan Gomez De Liano, though, began his PBA journey on a sensational note as the second overall pick of last month's draft finished with a triple-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.
The former Seoul SK star went 3-for-3 from three-point range and 5-of-10 field goals overall.
Balti Baltazar also tallied 15 markers with 11 boards, five dimes, and three blocks.
Joshua Munzon blasted for 31 points on 10-for-17 field goals, including 5-of-7 on long bombs, five rebounds, three assists, and one block, but he was the lone bright spot for the Giant Risers as they fell to 1-1.
Calvin Abueva, who erupted for 41 points in Titan Ultra's upset against Meralco on Wednesday night, was held to only two points in less than five minutes of action.
