MANILA—Meralco came alive in the second half to take down Ginebra, 89-75, in their PBA Philippine Cup game on Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Down 30-42 at halftime, the Bolts began their comeback by outscoring the Gin Kings, 26-19, in the third quarter to cut their deficit to just five, 56-61.
Meralco then completed the turnaround by bludgeoning Ginebra in the fourth, 33-14.
Chris Newsome led the Bolts, now with back-to-back wins after a 0-2 start, with 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
CJ Cansino added 18 points, two rebounds, and two steals.
RJ Abarrientos led the Gin Kings, who fell to 1-2, with 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
