SAN JUAN, MM--Perpetual Help began its NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball tournament campaign with a convincing win over San Sebastian.
On Friday at the Playtime FilOil Center, the Altas ousted the Golden Stags, 67-54, to join Mapua in the first-win club of Group A.
“Having that first win is always a welcome [sight], pero we have a lot of things to cover,” coach Olsen Racela said.
“This is just one win, but I think I liked our defensive effort today,” he added.
Mark Gojo Cruz paced the Altas with a team-high 15 points to go along with two rebounds and two assists.
Holdovers John Abis and John Boral, and the debuting Patrick Sleat all scored 10 in the victory.
Tristan Felebrico was the sole double-digit scorer for the Stags with 12 points to his name alongside seven rebounds.
