MANILA––Arellano banked on its solid defense and a spectacular performance from Renzo Abiera to post an 82-66 beatdown against San Sebastian for its first NCAA men's basketball win on Tuesday at the Playtime FilOil Centre in San Juan City.
Coming close to surprising defending champions Mapua Cardinals on Saturday, the Chiefs picked up from where they left off, stifling the Golden Stags in the second and fourth quarters to pull away while Abiera was unstoppable on offense.
Up by only one, 23-22, as the first quarter ended, Arellano outscored Baste, 25-14, in the second to open a 48-36 halftime lead.
