SEAG 2025: Philippines to meet defending champs in football, futsal tourney

 



MANILA -- The Philippine national football and futsal teams were grouped in their familiar foes for the upcoming 2025 Southeast Asian Games as their respective official draws happened Sunday afternoon during the first Technical Delegates Meeting held at Bangkok, Thailand.

The Under-23 squad of Philippine Men's National Football Team was assigned to Group C for the Men's Football tournament grouping with defending champions Indonesia, Myanmar, and Singapore. 

The tournament will commence on December 3-18 and only top team across Groups A - C with top second-place team will advance to the Semifinals. 

Next, the Filipinas will meet anew it's 2023 opponents - the defending champions, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Malaysia in Group B where the Women's Football tournament begins on December 4-17. Top two in Groups A and B will move on to the semifinals. 

Finally, the Futsal Women's World Cup bound Filipina5 will meet the defending champions and also World Cup debutant Thailand and Malaysia. Top two teams from Groups A and B will advance to the Semifinals that will start on December 4-17. 

This will be the Filipina5's second major tournament after their inaugural appearance and hosting of the very first 2025 FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup.
