MANILA--Team Asia wasted a little time in imposing its will against Team Rest of the World at the start of the second Reyes Cup on Thursday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Team Asia, which brought back holdovers Carlo Biado, Johann Chua, Aloysius Yapp, and Duong Quoc Hoang, with young gun AJ Manas completing the quintet, won all four scheduled matches for Day 1 to quickly gain a significant head start in the race-to-11 team event.

Team Asia dominated the opening 5-on-5 battle, drawing first blood with a 5-1 gentleman's sweep.

Yapp and Manas then teamed up in the first doubles match for the night and took down the pair of Jayson Shaw and Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, 5-2.

Biado, the reigning World Pool Championship winner, then escaped a late comeback bid from Moritz Neuhausen, 5-3.

The final match of the night, though, went down to the wire, but it took a crucial turn right at the final rack when Fedor Gorst, teaming up with Skylar Woodward, fouled at the three-ball when his Z-shot did not hit the target ball at all.

Chua and Duong took advantage of the hill-hill blunder and cleaned up the table to seal the 4-0 sweep.
