MANILA––Letran lived to fight another day in the NCAA men's basketball playoffs after nipping Arellano, 87-78, in their quarterfinal duel on Wednesday at the Playtime FilOil Centre in San Juan City.
The Knights came alive in the last three quarters after the Chiefs exploded in the first, outscoring them, 68-51.
Letran capped the comeback by limiting Arellano, which had 27 points in the first period, to only 11 in the fourth.
Jimboy Estrada led the Knights, who forced a second game against the Chiefs on Friday, back at the Playtime FilOil Centre, with 22 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Kevin Santos added 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting, nine rebounds, and three blocks.
T-Mc Ongotan led Arellano, which saw its twice-to-beat advantage canceled, with 18 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
