MANILA--The MPBL is pushing through with Game 2 of the South Division semifinals this week, as the entire Luzon is beginning to recover from Super Typhoon "Uwan".
The league announced on Monday that the doubleheader pitting Quezon and GenSan in the first game and Binan and Batangas City in the second game will now be played on Tuesday, although the Batangas City Coliseum will now be the site of the Rum Masters' home stand.
Had it been pushed through as scheduled on Monday, the games would have been at the nearby Batangas Province Events Center.
The Huskers and Tatak Gel, 1-0 up in their respective best-of-three series, will try to seal the sweeps in their national quarterfinal affairs and set up a best-of-five showdown for South supremacy.
GenSan and Batangas City, though, have other plans, that is, sending both playoff series to sudden death Saturday, all the more so that the latter will have the home crowd with them.
Meanwhile, San Juan finally gets to play at the comfort of its home this playoffs as the MPBL confirmed the rubber match of the team's North semifinals against Pangasinan will be played at the Playtime FilOil Centre.
The Knights were forced to play their "home stands" earlier in the postseason at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, as the NCAA already reserved Playtime FilOil Centre, the collegiate league's longtime home, during the dates the Knights were supposed to play at home.
As it turned out, as confirmed by a source, no major sports league has reserved the Playtime FilOil Centre for Thursday night, paving the way for San Juan to book the place.
The Knights forced a Game 3 after they obliterated the Heatwaves, 83-66, in Game 2 on Friday night behind a dominating 30-7 third quarter.
