PBA: Ateneo duo comes alive as ROS rips Phoenix to go on top

MANILA—The Ateneo alumni tandem of Gian Mamuyac and Anton Asistio took the lead for Rain Or Shine as the team tripped Phoenix, 91-80, in their PBA Philippine Cup game on Wednesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Asistio sparked the Elasto Painters' offense by firing six threes, including two in a pivotal 13-0 run that gave them the lead for good, 80-71, with 5:55 to go.

Mamuyac then helped finish the job just when the Fuel Masters were threatening by scoring back-to-back baskets in the end.

Mamuyac paced ROS, now solely on top of the team standings at 5-1, with 22 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal, while Asistio added 20 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Jason Perkins led Phoenix, which crashed to the bottom at 1-5 despite outrebounding ROS, 69-50, with 17 points, seven rebounds, and one assist.
