MANILA--International sporting events keep coming to the Philippines ahead of 2026, as Red Bull announced on Sunday that the country will host the next Red Bull Half Court World Finals.
The confirmation came at the conclusion of this year's world finals in Dubai, where Egypt knocked North Macedonia out in the men's final, 21-12, and Japan outlasted Egypt, 9-8, in the women's final.
Uratex Dream, the lone Philippine team in Dubai, reached the quarterfinals but was knocked out by Japan, 8-10.
Next year, though, Uratex Dream, arguably the best women's 3x3 club in the Philippines right now, will have extra motivation for revenge as they have the home crowd with them.
Of course, though, they have to undergo the national qualifiers again.
The Red Bull Half Court is patterned around the FIBA 3x3 rules, that is, whoever scores the highest on a 1-2 point system after 10 minutes will win unless the winning team makes it to 21 points before the final buzzer.
The difference, though, is that Red Bull added two special spots at the wings way beyond the two-point line where a long bomb converted from either of the two spots will give the shooter's team three points.
The special three-point spots are why the Red Bull Half Court tournaments are not sanctioned by FIBA.
