MANILA--San Miguel will keep its momentum going ahead of the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals after drubbing Meralco, 113-104, on Friday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Already assured of the top seed ahead of the next round, the Beermen did not want their hot streak to end right there, slowly pulling away from the Bolts, who saw their hopes of joining their opponents inside the Top 4 slip away.

June Mar Fajardo and CJ Perez each scored 24 points, with the former also grabbing 15 rebounds for SMB, which ended the elimination round with nine straight wins after a shock 0-2 start.

Don Trollano contributed 21 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one block off the bench.

CJ Cansino led Meralco, which dropped to a tie with NLEX for seventh place at 6-5, with 21 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Brandon Bates added 10 points on a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and nine rebounds.

The result handed Converge a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
