QUEZON CITY—Meralco took much joy out of TNT in a special night for the franchise after finally notching a win in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals with a 97-89 Game 3 decision on Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
In a night the Tropang 5G retired Ranidel De Ocampo's number 33 jersey, the Bolts, coincidentally the last team he played for before he retired from playing and eventually joining TNT's coaching staff, took on the party pooper role, holding their sister team off despite a hot game from RR Pogoy.
Chris Banchero and CJ Cansino each scored 18 points for Meralco, which cut TNT's lead in the best-of-seven series to 2-1.
Pogoy finished with 28 points, 21 in the second half, on 10-of-17 shooting, including 5-of-6 on threes, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal for TNT.
