PASAY--Caloocan is set to acquire Kean Baclaan after the recently-crowned UAAP champion expressed his desire to turn pro.
An insider confirmed on Wednesday that the heady point guard is signing with the Batang Kankaloo, who have been one of the contenders in the MPBL over the years.
First reported by Tiebreaker Times' Lorenzo Del Carmen, Baclaan is leaving La Salle after just one year as he now looks to provide for his family.
Baclaan, who played for National University for two years before moving to Taft Avenue, still has one year of eligibility left in the UAAP, but he is now forgoing it in favor of dropping green for orange.
Baclaan is not new to the Caloocan franchise as he was part of the team's youth team in the Junior MPBL in 2024.
The late January signing means Baclaan could make it in time for the Batang Kankaloo's buildup for the upcoming MPBL Preseason Tournament starting on Feb. 7.
They are one of 16 teams confirmed to be joining the tune-up event for the regional league's eighth season starting in April.
Caloocan retooled its squad by acquiring Eric Camson, Robby Celiz, Jake Gaspay, Jielo Razon, and Jammer Jamito.
