PBA: CJ Perez hits clutch long bombs as SMB takes 2-1 finals lead vs TNT

PASAY--CJ Perez took matters into his own hands down the stretch to lead San Miguel to a tight 95-89 win against TNT in Game 3 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Perez gave the Beermen a 90-89 lead after burying a four-point shot with 41.8 seconds left, and after Rey Nambatac missed a triple, Perez scored on a stepback three to up their lead to four, 93-89, with 12.3 seconds to go.

Jordan Heading tried to force overtime, but he missed his own four-pointer, and Marcio iced the game with two free throws with 4.9 seconds left.

Perez led SMB, now 2-1 up in the best-of-seven series, with 20 points, 17 in the fourth quarter, on 7-of-13 shooting, five rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

Don Trollano added 19 points, three rebounds, one steal, and one block, while June Mar Fajardo contributed 16 points, 27 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.

Calvin Oftana led TNT with 25 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block, while Heading and Brandon Rosser each added 15 markers.

Heading had 11 assists, while Rosser grabbed 13 rebounds.
